Like expectant moms, I had a baby bjorn waiting for the new kid when he got home. The bjorn was great for long trips out, and my husband loved using it. But with a colicky baby, I needed something I could wear around the house all day, and yes, night, because I was certainly never going to keep track of where I last took the baby carrier off. As I said, the bjorn was nice because its adjustments were always perfect, and my husband felt it was more manly than his alternatives.
So I started asking around, borrowing baby carriers and looking for deals where I can buy new baby carriers on sale. I justified the expense a few ways. First of all, if I could avoid even one trip to a doctor for my screaming kid or my increasingly sore back, then it was money well spent.
Fast forward three short years and slings are not only awesome for you and the baby, but they are the go-to fashion accessory for hip mamas. Forget about cute purses that will probably get thrown in the diaper bag, or earrings and necklaces that the child will either whack their face into or tear off, the sling is your chance to express yourself and give your baby a cool ride. I promise, once you find a sling style you love, you’ll never want to give it up.
