User Ratings and Reviews
5 Stars Great for both mom and dad!
This has been great! Both my husband and I can use it. I am 6’0″ and 145 pounds and my husband is 6’4″ and about 240 and is very muscular and both of us are able to use it. We used it when our baby was about a month, but it didn’t support his head as much as we liked. We tried it again at 2 months and it was still the same thing, but a little better. By 3 months however, we could turn him so he could face out and look and it was great. He is 6 months now and still uses it. It has a nice feature where you slide a zipper and select the range of age so that they will fit perfect in it. We use it a lot for things like shopping. It is nice cause when he was 3 months we started to notice a flat spot on the back of his head so this came in handy to keep him off his back during the day. This one also has good padding for your shoulders.
2 Stars poor quality buckles, loose straps
At the price, this product is just not the quality I had expected.
I had problems with the upper buckle within 2 months. The black pointy thing behind the buckle shifted angles and would not go back to its original place. Because of that, every time I put the baby in the carrier, I ran the risk of hurting him with this sharp edge. Also the belts would come loose after just 1/2 an hour of use when his weight was not even 15 lbs. so he would be hanging much lower than the position I had originally put him in.
Arm loops are too tight to put baby’s arms through them.
I took it back (when I could find time) to BabiesRus but they would not take it back since it was past their 90 days return. I had not realized it at the time. When you have a little one time slips away fast. I have written to Chicco but so far there has been no response.
I spent over $100 (with tax) on a carrier that I barely used for 2-3 months. Even otherwise it is too expensive to be used only for babies 0-9 months.
5 Stars Lifesaver
Having a sling is a lifesaver now that my 5-week old baby has decided she needs to be held at all times. I wear her in this for several hours a day and we both get some peace and quiet.
This particular sling is better than others we tried in a couple ways:
1 – Provides some head support for a newborn who cannot support her own head
2 – Overall design and straps comfortably support infant weight to avoid back strain
A bit more detail on the competition – we originally purchased the Ergo carrier after reading the great reviews, and will probably use it in the future, but it just didn’t provide enough head support for our newborn. We went to Babies R Us and tried on all the floor models, including the Baby Bjorn, and this one seemed most comfortable for mom and baby.
2 Stars Buckle is poorly designed
Buyer beware! I was totally happy when I first bought this product because it was more comfortable than others I tried. However, when the baby arrived and we started using it, I noticed that my baby’s head came really close to the prongs that are designed to adjust the height of the shoulder harness. As my baby got older and started to be able to control neck and head, the same prongs actually scratched his head in a number of places – coming dangerously close to his eye. I returned the product and purchased a Baby Bjorn, which has a much better design on this part of the carrier but is not as good on lumbar support.
2 Stars Very Akward
My wife and were very excited about this carrier because it looks so comfortable and well made, but the adjustment system is very awkward. We could never get our baby to sit in it right. No matter what adjustments we made, she always seemed to sit very low and her arms were at uncomfortable angles. There are also a lot of adjustments to be made if we wanted to change the person wearing it.
